708 – Road Transport

This Toolbox provides learning content that addresses the Certificate II in Transport and Distribution (Road Transport), from the Transport and Distribution (TDT02) Training Package.
The instructional material on the CD revolves around the skills and knowledge that a learner will gain as they progress through all areas of loading and unloading cargo within a fictitious organisation - CT Express.

The content covers the five Units of Competence from the qualification - one completely and four partially.
‘The Toolbox is comprised of a broad-range of relevant scenarios and appropriate strategies with the emphasis on increased internalised learning in which learners are able to assess situations and react appropriately. Knowledge components are an important side-effect of a dynamic learning experience. For example:
- A picture or video thrusts the learner into a realistic scenario. The situation is described, and the learner is given descriptions of possible outcomes. Whether the results are good or bad depends on the learner’s actions. The learner makes decisions, as each branches into additional choices
- Learning occurs in a context and is based on the concept that knowledge can’t be known and fully understood independent of its context
- Learning occurs by following success and failure paths through a realistic situation.’
See purchasing details below.
The Toolbox may be run from:
- the CD-ROM
- a network drive
- a web server
The same CD-ROM will run on both Windows and Macintosh computers.
Like all Toolboxes, the content of the 708 – Road Transport Toolbox may be personalised (ie customised) for each RTO or trainer. Those changes may be simple text alterations or replacement graphics, video or sound.
This Toolbox ‘is designed to be used in multiple delivery modes, a mix of face-to-face, flexible learning laboratory or fully self-paced.’ Individual units may be made available to the learner rather than all of the units.
Another valuable feature is that most of the Toolboxes can be ‘integrated into a learning management system (LMS)’ - for example Janison, WebCT™ or Moodle.
All Toolboxes come with a Teachers Guide and Technical Guide for assistance with the delivery of content and customisation.
