The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) is the nationally agreed arrangements that ensure the high quality of vocational education and training services in Australia. The AQTF was revised in 2007 to improve the quality of training and assessment in the VET sector. The changes came into effect on 1 July 2007. The standards comprise:
The essential standards for registration
Training organisations must meet these standards in order to deliver and assess nationally recognised training and issue nationally recognised qualifications.
Standards for State and Territory registering bodies
State and Territory registering bodies are responsible for registering training organisations and for quality assuring the training and assessment services they provide.
Excellence criteria
These are criteria that registered training organisations may use voluntarily to continue improving the quality of their training and assessment and to gain recognition of their performance

The NTF is a nationally
consistent, industry-led system designed to:
- provide high-quality skill outcomes to maintain individuals’ employability and increase their productivity
- provide for nationally recognised qualifications, and
- improve the competitiveness of enterprises and the nation.
What’s the AQTF?

What’s the AQTF 2007?
The Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) has been revised to improve the quality of training and assessment in the VET sector. The changes came into effect on 1 July 2007.
Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
The Australian Qualifications Framework is a unified system of twelve national qualifications in schools, vocational education and training (TAFEs and private providers) and the higher education sector (mainly universities).
Training Packages
Training packages are sets of nationally endorsed standards and qualifications for recognising and assessing people's skills.
Australian Government Department of Education Employment and Workplace Relations
DEEWR provides national leadership and works in collaboration with the States and Territories, industry, other agencies and the community in support of the Government’s objectives. It develops and implements policies to ensure the continuing relevance of education, science and training to contemporary needs and the growing requirement for lifelong learning.
National Training Information Service (NTIS)
The National Training Information Service has been developed by ANTA to provide access to current and emerging training market information and products in vocational education and training. NTIS provides a database of Training Packages, courses, qualifications, competencies and training providers in Australia.
