Leading educational technology journals and databases present some of the most interesting research in VET and Educational Technology papers in Australia and internationally. These journals offer a range of articles on instructional technologies, applications and development strategies.

Some of the better sites, such as eLearn Magazine, also offer intellectually rigorous debate and feedback.

Journals are full text unless otherwise noted.

Australian Journal of Educational Technology

This is a refereed journal publishing research and review articles in educational technology, instructional design, educational applications of computer technologies, educational telecommunications and related areas.

EDUCAUSE Quarterly

This site promotes the intelligent use of information technology and includes professional development activities, print and electronic publications, strategic policy initiatives, research, awards for leadership and exemplary practices, and a wealth of online information services.

eLearn Magazine

An engaging online learning magazine with an active forum/feedback section which provides diverse views and perspectives from different countries and from various fields - including higher education, corporate training and government training.

Journal of Interactive Media in Education (JIME)

This site's aim is to foster a multi-disciplinary and intellectually rigorous debate on the theoretical and practical aspects of interactive media in education.

Learning Technology

Articles on existing and emerging learning technologies. IEEE Computer Society publication.

Campus Technology Magazine

Focuses on the role of technology in higher education and how technology can be used to support teaching, learning and administrative activities. Regular features cover multimedia, distance learning, the Internet, quantitative tools, publishing and administrative technology. A variety of platforms are covered, among them, computers, video, multimedia and telecommunications equipment. You can read all but the current issue online.

T.H.E. Journal

T.H.E. Journal features trends and application stories from educators involved in integrating technology into their curricula and on their campuses.

VOCED Highlights

An edited selection from the latest additions to the larger VOCED site which contains a database of research articles from Australia and around the world highlighting some issues appearing in technical and vocational education and training research internationally.

EdResearch Online

Back to TopA database containing over 8000 educational research articles and documents on conference proceedings and papers, journal articles, research reports, government reports and theses. There is a fee of AUD$22 per article

ERIC Database

The Educational Resources Information Centre (ERIC) is the world's largest database of education research and practice literature with over 1.1 million citations and 107,000 full-text non-journal documents

VOCED Database

The VOCED database is produced by Australia's National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) as part of its role in a UNESCO regional centre of excellence in technical and vocational education and training.

DET Intranet Sites

Education and Training Information Service (ETIS)

DET staff can access the ETIS site on the DET intranet under Administration and Management > Information and Communication.

For the best choice of educational journals, the ETIS library based at the Open Training and Education Network (OTEN) has links to selected electronic journals maintained by the Education and Training Information Service. This site provides a comprehensive list of journals available online and sample content.
